Restaurants are opening and closing in cities all the time, but how is one to supposed to find a list of restaurants in your area?  That’s what this worksheet will help you do.

 

Bottom-up search

 

1. Plug in the words “business directory restaurant + [name of your city or zip code]” into your search engine query line.
2. Review the top 10 findings.

4.     Evaluating bias in a Web site.  Review Unit 1 (Search): Activity Worksheet 8: “Bias Activity” and apply the guidelines there to your findings here.  Note any potential problems below:

Open a browser window to the Google Maps home page at http://maps.google.com/ and enter your school’s address in the search window.  Then find the “Search nearby” link and enter the word restaurant.  In many cases, doing so should help you find a collection of restaurants near your school.  List the best candidates here:

Choosing a winner

 

Now, it’s time to work with your peers and select a restaurant to review. Remember, the best candidates for reviews are new restaurants, restaurants under new management, restaurants introducing a new feaure (a new burger? a new dining room?) or a restaurant celebrating a noteworthy anniversary.  Put the name and address of your final choice here:
